We were instructed to design a new raised decked terrace as a relaxing and entertaining space, to create a dry storage space beneath it and to reconcile the level of the terrace with a much-loved existing garden 1.5m below.
Materials were selected for their strength and longevity; oak was used for posts and for framing the Kebony deck boards, powder-coated steel was used for the balustrades and steps, where Kebony was also repeated on step treads.
We established a mid-level seating terrace to manage the level change and immersed it in planting. The retaining wall was clad in local sandstone and we clad the surrounding steps and paths in Golden Stone porcelain.
CLIENT RESPONSE
The project was very well managed and ran in accordance with the project plan and staged payment scheme. Communication was good and there were regular progress meetings throughout the work. Minor concerns were addressed promptly. The project was completed to the cost agreed at the outset. We are delighted with the result.
