Last month, Artisan’s Will and George travelled to London to assist Conquest Creative Spaces in building The Perennial Lifeline Garden for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019. Everyone, including south east landscaper Sussex Landscape, combined their skills and experience to build a ‘striking and textually rich’ space over the following 14 days.

Chelsea newcomers Colm Joseph and Duncan Cargill, were chosen to represent Perennial, following a design competition run jointly by Perennial and London College of Garden Design. Their design was created to honour Perennial’s vital role within the horticulture industry by ‘taking the best from the past, while embracing the future’. Perennial is a UK Charity that has, for the past 180 years, been dedicated to supporting those in the horticulture and landscaping industry by providing free and confidential advice, and financial assistance in challenging times of hardship.

The Lifeline garden celebrates classical elements of garden design set within a contemporary context; including a rose meadow, ornamental grasses and multi-stem trees partnered with freestanding metal screens and stone paving. The construction team worked hard to ensure that Colm & Duncan’s design was executed seamlessly, paying extra attention to the finer details such as the precise installation of the rill water feature, stone paving and metal screens.

Will and George had a brilliant time assisting Conquest Creative Spaces to build this beautiful garden and are hoping that next year it will be Artisan heading up the build!
